1 - What gases are the major cause of acid rain? The gases that cause acid rain are Sulfur Dioxide, Nitrogen Oxides and Water.

2 - Where do most of these gases come from? Winds spread these acidic solutions across the atmosphere and over hundreds of miles. When rain reaches the Earth it flows across the surface in runoff water, enters water systems and sinks into the soil.

3 - Describe a few negative effects of acid rain.
It makes the water toxic for crayfish, clams, fish and other aquatic animals.
Damages forests, trees, leaves and needles are also harmed by acids.
Affects the food chain.
